In memory of … It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Miguel, an iconic member of our community, a man of many artistic talents, a man that always found a way to turn some moment of the day into a joke with his very present, but subtle laugh. C’est une triste nouvelle d’apprendre le décès de Miguel, c’est aussi difficile de croire qu’il ne sera plus parmi nous au plateau des arts JFK. Il adorait être au plateau, sa présence était exemplaire et essentielle pour lui; dessiner lui était indispensable et faisait partie intégrante de sa vie. Il dessinait depuis son jeune âge. Son talent en art était remarquable. Miguel était passionné, créatif et original dans sa façon de dessiner. Chaque dessin était unique et fait avec minutie. Sa fascination pour les objets antiques, les églises et l’architectures des immeubles se reflétait dans la majorité de ses œuvres. Kennedy Adult Education Center, we had the pleasure of being awe stricken everyday by the absolute wonderful talents of Miguel! His passion for music, more specifically, his use of cd player and cassette player, added to his artistic personality. He always set the theme of the day with his choice of music, which often revolved around heavy metal, or music that he had enjoyed listening to with his father. Sitting in his chosen corner of our studio, keeping to himself, exhuming pride of his abilities and creations and allowing himself to grow by accepting our challenges with different projects. Il était fier et reconnaissant de voir l’émerveillement, l’appréciation que les gens avaient à l’égard de son immense talent et de ses réalisations. C’était son essence, une de ses motivations pour cheminer et se surpasser dans l’accomplissement de ses œuvres. Miguel had created art for decades, captivating the gaze of diverse populations of artists. His gentle presence in our studio peaked the curiosity of us all. Miguel had many years of wood working experience, with a passion of visiting iconic attractions around Montreal, most importantly the basilicas, churches, oratory, and museums. His art and gentle spirit lives on within our studio and that of many homes! Le côtoyer a été pour nous un privilège, il va nous manquer. Miguel restera dans notre mémoire un grand artiste.
